This is a watch model I did for Nike back in 2000. The original design title was Aqualite, but the watch was changed to Hurricane for production. The body, bezel, buckle and buttons were made using StereoLithography(SLA) technology, finished out and primed. Then the body was placed in a silicone mold and the band was cast over it using a two part polyurethane rubber resin. Next, the SLA parts were painted and the crystal (face glass) was polished out from machined acrylic. The face was made using a series of acetate overlays with graphics provided by the customer printed on them and the hands were carved from styrene and piano wire. The whole thing took about a week to work on, with an all nighter to finish. This is typical of the watch models we made for Nike.

The band was cast in color. We were supplied with a number of color plates showing the proposed available color range for the watch and, due to the tight time constraint, we ran with the color that would be the easiest to match. Since the resin cured naturally to a translucent amber color, we went with the translucent brown. A little black and perhaps some green pigment were added and then tested, and the result was satisfactory within a few tries.

Nice overall view
Here it the entire model. The keeper and buckle are visible. Great trouble was taken to match the metalic tones for the parts that would be metal. We had a variety of metalics, from warm to cool, and mixed and matched until we came to a decent tone.
